Two kinds of citrus, not one

Citrus comes in two versions here, and they are different enough to choose between. In Neoporto, citrus is the top note, the part you get in the first few seconds before the jasmine and the lavender take over. It is there to lift, not to stay. Lemon Fields is built the other way round: citrus is not an opening there but the whole fragrance, green lemon drawn from an Italian lemon grove, fresh rather than sweet. One is a clearing in a floral scent; the other is the whole grove.

Where citrus sits among the five fragrances

Two of the five fragrances carry citrus. The other three go elsewhere: Mintcalypto Energize is mint and eucalyptus, Coco Vanilla is coconut and vanilla, and Pineapple Blizz is pineapple, described as sweet and fresh rather than sharp. That makes citrus the widest way into the range, and the only note where you actually have a choice: softer and slower with Neoporto, the calmest fragrance and the one that lingers longest, or straighter and brighter with Lemon Fields.

Citrus in water and heat

Citrus is the note that does best with water and heat. In the shower, with the salt scrub on damp skin, it opens at once and fills the room, and that is where Lemon Fields is most itself. The price is that it also fades fastest: citrus is volatile, and by the time the skin is dry it is weaker than it was ten minutes earlier.

On dry skin it holds best in the body oil, smoothed on while the skin is still warm, and in Neoporto, where the jasmine and the lavender give the citrus something to lean on once the top has settled.

How to choose between the two

If you want the citrus to register in the shower and then leave the day to itself, Lemon Fields is the clearer choice, and it comes as a salt scrub, a shower gel and a body oil. If you want it tied to something softer and carried further, Neoporto is the one, and it runs through all four steps and the sets. Mixing works too: Lemon Fields in the shower and Neoporto afterwards gives a bright start and a quieter continuation. All of it is made in Halmstad, in the same fragrances right through the range.
